Gather these ingredients — no prep needed yet.

  • 1 large orange
  • 59.1 ml packed dark brown sugar
  • 59.1 ml red wine vinegar
  • Kosher salt and pepper
  • 29.6 ml all-purpose flour
  • Cooked long-grain white rice

Prepare

  • 8 pieces bone-in, dark meat chicken (thighs and drumsticks, about 2½ pounds total), skin removed, skin removed
  • 6 clove garlic, smashed
  • 1 large red onion, cut into ½-inch-thick wedges
  • 1 can 15¼-ounce can peach halves, drained and cut into 1-inch pieces
  • 118 ml fresh flat-leaf parsley, roughly chopped

Let's Cook

  1. Step 1.

Using a vegetable peeler, remove 2 strips of zest from the orange. Thinly slice the zest and set aside. Juice the orange into a 5- to 6-quart slow cooker (you should have about ½ cup). Whisk in the brown sugar, vinegar, ¾ teaspoon salt, and ¼ teaspoon pepper.

  2. Step 2.

Toss the chicken pieces with the flour in a bowl until evenly coated. Add the chicken to the slow cooker along with the smashed garlic cloves and the sliced orange zest. Scatter the red onion wedges over the top. Cover and cook until the chicken is cooked through and the sauce has slightly thickened, 7 to 8 hours on low or 5 to 6 hours on high.

  3. Step 3.

Transfer the cooked chicken to a platter and keep warm. Add the drained and cut peach pieces to the slow cooker, cover, and cook until heated through, about 3 minutes. Fold in the chopped parsley. Spoon the peach and onion mixture over the chicken and serve with cooked long-grain white rice.
