Let's Prepare

Collect

Gather these ingredients — no prep needed yet.

  • 1 1/3 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 dry ranch dressing mix
  • cayenne or ground red pepper
  • 1 lb Premium saltines

Let's Cook

  1. Step 1.

In a medium bowl, combine 1⅓ cups vegetable oil, 1 packet dry ranch dressing mix, and 1 to 2 tablespoons cayenne or ground red pepper (adjust to your desired spice level). Whisk until well blended.

  2. Step 2.

Open all four sleeves of a 1-pound box of Premium saltines and empty the crackers into a 2-gallon ziplock bag. Pour the oil mixture over the crackers, seal the bag tightly, and gently toss and shake to coat all the crackers evenly.

  3. Step 3.

Over the next 6 to 8 hours, periodically toss the bag (every hour or so) to redistribute the oil mixture. The crackers will absorb the oil and remain crunchy; they won't get soggy. Once fully absorbed, transfer to an airtight container or serve immediately.
