A formula we prefer, perhaps closer to what the first martini tasted like. While serving martinis on the rocks is a bit dated, we think the approach has merit, especially for the summertime martini drinker.

  • 2 ½ ounces London dry gin
  • ½ ounce dry vermouth
  • ½ ounce sweet vermouth
  • (A dash of orange bitters)
  • 1 small pitted green olive

Let's Cook

  1. Step 1.

    Fill a chilled rocks glass three-quarters full with ice cubes. Add: 2 ½ ounces London dry gin; ½ ounce dry vermouth; ½ ounce sweet vermouth; (A dash of orange bitters)

  2. Step 2.

    Stir until well chilled, about 30 seconds. Add: 1 small pitted green olive
