Let's Prepare

Collect

Gather these ingredients - no prep needed yet.

  • 118 ml frozen orange juice concentrate
  • 355 ml orange juice
  • 177 ml tequila
  • 29.6 ml Cointreau or triple sec
  • 29.6 ml lime juice
  • 710 ml crushed ice
  • 59.1 ml grenadine

Prepare

  • Margarita or coarse sea salt, for rimming glass
  • 1 lime wedge, for rimming glass
  • 4 orange slices, for garnish
  • 4 maraschino cherries, for garnish

Let's Cook

  1. Step 1.

Spread a layer of salt in a shallow dish. Run a lime wedge around the rims of 4 highball glasses to moisten them, then dip each rim into the salt to coat.

  2. Step 2.

In a blender, combine the frozen orange juice concentrate, orange juice, tequila, Cointreau or triple sec, and lime juice. Add the crushed ice and pulse until smooth. Divide the margarita evenly among the 4 salt-rimmed glasses.

  3. Step 3.

Tilt each glass slightly and slowly pour 1 tablespoon of grenadine down the inside edge of the glass; the grenadine will sink to the bottom, creating a sunrise effect. Garnish each drink with an orange slice and a maraschino cherry, then serve immediately.
