- 1 pound small red potatoes
- ½ teaspoon salt
- One small head cabbage (about 1½ pounds), trimmed, cored, and quartered
- 8 ounces smoked ham, coarsely chopped
- 3 tablespoons chopped parsley, dill, or a combination
- Salt and black pepper to taste
- Lemon wedges or red wine vinegar
- (Prepared horseradish or whole-grain mustard)

Step 1.
Scrub well or peel: 1 pound small red potatoes

Quarter the potatoes and place them in a large saucepan. Add water to cover along with: ½ teaspoon salt

Bring to a boil and add: One small head cabbage (about 1½ pounds), trimmed, cored, and quartered

Reduce the heat, cover, and simmer until the potatoes are tender, about 20 minutes.
