Becker Burgers
4 servings These braised burgers are flavorful, juicy, and tender. Serve on top of whole wheat toast, with the pan juices poured over the burgers.
Ingredients
- 1 ½ pounds ground round or sirloin
- 1 2 tablespoons bacon fat, lard, Clarified Butter, or vegetable oil (opens in new tab)
- Black pepper
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons port
- Several drops of hot pepper sauce

- 1 ½ pounds ground round or sirloin
- 1 2 tablespoons bacon fat, lard, Clarified Butter, or vegetable oil
- Black pepper
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons port
- Several drops of hot pepper sauce

Divide into 4 equal portions and form each into a patty about ¾ inch thick: 1 ½ pounds ground round or sirloin

Heat in a heavy skillet over medium-high heat: 2 tablespoons bacon fat, lard, Clarified Butter, or vegetable oil

Add the patties and cook for 2 minutes. Turn and cook on the other side for 4 minutes for medium-rare. Sprinkle the burgers generously with: Black pepper
