Let's Prepare

Collect

Gather these ingredients - no prep needed yet.

  • 473 ml flour
  • salt
  • sugar
  • 4 eggs
  • 237 ml milk
  • oil

Let's Cook

  1. Step 1.

In a large bowl, combine 2 cups flour, a pinch of salt, and a pinch of sugar. Add 4 eggs and 1 cup milk, then whisk or stir until the batter is smooth and free of lumps.

  2. Step 2.

Pour oil into a deep skillet or pot to a depth of about 1 inch and heat over medium-high heat until hot (about 350°F or until a drop of batter sizzles immediately).

  3. Step 3.

Using a wooden spoon, drop spoonfuls of batter into the hot oil, working in batches to avoid crowding. Fry until the bottoms are golden brown, about 2–3 minutes, then flip and cook the other side until golden brown, another 2–3 minutes.

  4. Step 4.

Transfer the fried dough to a plate lined with paper towels to drain excess oil. Repeat with remaining batter. Serve warm with cream cheese and jam.
