- 14.8 ml extra-virgin olive oil
- Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper
- red pepper flakes
- 170 g orecchiette pasta
- 473 ml chicken broth
- 355 ml half-and-half or heavy cream
- 237 ml shredded Parmesan cheese
- 118 ml panko bread crumbs
Prepare
- Dice 1 small yellow onion
- Dice 113 g prosciutto
- Mince 3 medium cloves garlic
- 1 can water-packed albacore tuna, drained and flaked
- Thaw 237 ml frozen peas
Let's Cook
-
Step 1.
Heat the olive oil in a 10-inch skillet over medium heat. Add the diced onion and prosciutto and cook, stirring occasionally, until the onion is softened, about 5 minutes. Stir in the minced garlic and cook until fragrant, about 1 minute. Season with salt, pepper, and red pepper flakes if using.
-
Step 2.
Add the orecchiette pasta to the skillet, then carefully pour in the chicken broth and half-and-half. Bring the liquid to a gentle simmer, uncovered, and cook, stirring often, until the pasta is tender and the liquid has thickened, 12 to 15 minutes.
-
Step 3.
While the pasta cooks, preheat the broiler with the rack 6 inches from the heating element.
-
Step 4.
Stir the drained and flaked tuna, thawed peas, and half of the shredded Parmesan cheese into the pasta. Continue to cook, gently stirring, until everything is heated through, about 3 minutes.
-
Step 5.
Sprinkle the panko bread crumbs and remaining Parmesan cheese evenly over the top of the noodle mixture. Transfer the skillet to the oven and broil until the cheese is melted and golden brown, 2 to 3 minutes. Let the casserole cool for 5 minutes before serving.
