Sweet HEAT BBQ Sauce
A sweet and spicy BBQ sauce made with hot sauce, dark brown sugar, amber beer, Worcestershire sauce, and dried basil. It thickens into a rich glaze perfect for fried chicken, roast chicken, collards, shrimp and grits, or just about anything.

Step 1.
In a large pot over medium-high heat, bring the hot sauce to a slow boil. This should take about 5 minutes; watch for small bubbles breaking the surface.

Once the hot sauce is boiling, whisk in the packed dark brown sugar, amber beer, Worcestershire sauce, and dried basil until the sugar is fully dissolved.

Reduce the heat to low and let the sauce simmer gently, stirring occasionally, until it is reduced by one-quarter and becomes thick and viscous, about 2 hours. The sauce should coat the back of a spoon.

Remove the pot from the heat and let the sauce cool completely to room temperature, about 30 minutes.

Transfer the cooled sauce to a lidded glass jar and store in the refrigerator; it will keep indefinitely.
