A quick and easy hot cocoa made with milk, optional heavy cream, and cocoa syrup. Ready in minutes on the stovetop or in the microwave.

Ingredients

  • ¾ cup milk
  • (2 tablespoons heavy cream)
  • 1
    • 1 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
    • ¾ cup sugar
    • 1 cup cold water
    • (½ cup malted milk powder)
    Sub-recipe steps
    1. Whisk together in a medium saucepan: 1 cup unsweetened cocoa powder; ¾ cup sugar
    2. Add and stir to combine: 1 cup cold water; (½ cup malted milk powder)
    3. Bring just to a boil over medium heat, stirring constantly. Remove from the heat and let cool. Store covered at room temperature for several days, or refrigerate for up to 3 weeks. To liquefy refrigerated syrup, heat on the stove or in the microwave.

    Heat over medium-low heat, or in a microwave on high for 30 to 45 seconds, until warm but not boiling.
