Let's Prepare

Collect

Gather these ingredients - no prep needed yet.

  • 907 g flaky pastry dough
  • 907 g ricotta cheese
  • salt
  • 2 eggs
  • 907 g flaky pastry dough
  • small onions
  • 454 g lean ground beef
  • 2 cans pees
  • 9.86 ml tomato paste
  • spices

Let's Cook

  1. Step 1.

Mix the ricotta cheese with the two eggs until thoroughly combined. Add a bit of salt to taste.

  2. Step 2.

Roll out the dough to about 1/8 inch thickness. Cut into 3- to 4-inch circles.

  3. Step 3.

Place one tablespoon of ricotta mixture in the center of each circle. Fold top and bottom to center, squeeze edges to seal, forming pointed ends.

  4. Step 4.

Place pastizzi on a greased baking sheet. Bake at 350-425°F for about 1 hour until golden brown.

  5. Step 5.

For meat filling: Mince onions and fry in oil until dark. Add ground beef, cook briefly, then add tomato paste, spices, and peas. Season with salt and pepper.

  6. Step 6.

Roll out dough, cut circles, fill with meat mixture, fold and seal as above. Bake similarly.
