Let's Prepare

Collect

Gather these ingredients - no prep needed yet.

  • 1 cake dough of choice
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 2 tbsp dried cranberries
  • 1 tbsp freshly grated orange zest
  • 1 Citrus glaze

Prepare

  • 1/4 cup pecans, finely chopped

Let's Cook

  1. Step 1.

Prepare the cake dough of your choice as directed, but replace the nutmeg specified in the recipe with 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon.

  2. Step 2.

After mixing the wet ingredients into the dry, add ¼ cup finely chopped pecans (if using), 2 tablespoons dried cranberries, and 1 tablespoon freshly grated orange zest. Mix on low speed until just incorporated.

  3. Step 3.

Pipe and fry the dough as directed in your chosen recipe, forming either 8 to 12 traditional doughnuts or 25 to 35 drop doughnuts.

  4. Step 4.

Allow the fried doughnuts to cool slightly on a wire rack before glazing.

  5. Step 5.

While the doughnuts are still warm, prepare the Citrus glaze and dip or drizzle it over the doughnuts. Let the glaze set before serving.
