-
Step 1.
Preheat a barbecue grill on high, allowing it to heat until the grates are very hot, about 10 to 15 minutes. While the grill heats, toast both halves of the bun, cut side down, in a hot skillet over medium heat until golden brown, about 1 to 2 minutes. Set the toasted bun aside.
-
Step 2.
Form the ground beef into a thin patty that is slightly larger than the bun, as it will shrink during cooking. Lightly salt the patty on both sides.
-
Step 3.
Place the patty on the preheated barbecue grill and cook for 2 to 3 minutes per side, flipping once, until browned and cooked to your desired doneness. While the patty cooks, gather and prepare the toppings: pickles, catsup, onion rings, tomatoes, lettuce, and mayonnaise.
-
Step 4.
Build the burger in the following stacking order from the bottom up: bottom bun, hamburger patty, pickles, catsup, onion rings, tomatoes, lettuce, mayonnaise, top bun. Serve immediately.
