About 8 waffles Delectable with vanilla ice cream. These waffles are delicate, so remove them from the iron carefully. Preheat a waffle iron.

Ingredients

Servings:
  • 1 ½ cups (190g) all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup (200g) sugar
  • ½ cup (40g) unsweetened cocoa powder, sifted if lumpy
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup (235g) milk
  • 1 ½ sticks (6 oz or 170g) unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • (½ cup mini chocolate chips)

Let's Cook

  1. Step 1.

    Whisk together in a large bowl: 1 ½ cups (190g) all-purpose flour; 1 cup (200g) sugar; ½ cup (40g) unsweetened cocoa powder, sifted if lumpy; 2 teaspoons baking powder; ½ teaspoon salt

  2. Step 2.

    Whisk in a medium bowl until frothy: 2 large eggs

  3. Step 3.

    Whisk in: 1 cup (235g) milk; 1 ½ sticks (6 oz or 170g) unsalted butter, melted; 1 teaspoon vanilla

  4. Step 4.

    Whisk the wet ingredients into the flour mixture with a few swift strokes. If desired, fold in: (½ cup mini chocolate chips)

  5. Step 5.

    Cook, keep warm, and serve as for Waffles. This batter tends to thicken up as it stands. If needed, add about 1 tablespoon additional milk to the batter to loosen it.
