Frozen banana halves are dipped in chocolate and optionally coated with peanuts, sprinkles, or toffee bits for a simple, fun dessert.

Ingredients

Servings:
  • 4 ripe bananas
  • 1
    • 8 ounces semisweet chocolate, finely chopped, or chocolate chips
    • ¾ cup refined coconut oil
    Sub-recipe steps
    1. Combine in a double boiler or heatproof bowl set over a pan of barely simmering water: 8 ounces semisweet chocolate, finely chopped, or chocolate chips; ¾ cup refined coconut oil
    2. Stir frequently until the chocolate is fully melted. Let cool slightly and use right away or transfer to a dry container and store at room temperature. To remelt the chocolate, either transfer the mixture to a double boiler and melt over simmering water, or microwave in 30-second bursts, stirring after each one, until fully melted.
  • (Chopped roasted, salted peanuts or other nut)
  • (Multicolored sprinkles)
  • (Toffee bits)

Let's Cook

  1. Step 1.

Peel and halve crosswise: 4 ripe bananas

  2. Step 2.

Firmly insert a wooden popsicle stick or chopstick into the cut end of each half. Freeze on a sheet of foil for at least 1 hour. Prepare: Chocolate Shell

  3. Step 3.

Transfer the chocolate sauce to a tall, narrow container such as a tall glass for easier dipping. Remove the bananas from the freezer and dip them one by one into the chocolate, twirling to ensure complete coverage. If desired, sprinkle the chocolate-dipped bananas with one of the following before the chocolate sets: (Chopped roasted, salted peanuts or other nut); (Multicolored sprinkles); (Toffee bits)

  4. Step 4.

Serve at once, or let set on wax paper, then return to the freezer in a plastic bag for later. Keep any leftover chocolate shell in an airtight container or jar at room temperature.
