  • 118 ml salted butter

Prepare

  • 2 large eggs, lightly beaten

Let's Cook

  1. Step 1.

Preheat the oven to 350°F. Lightly grease a 9-by-13-inch baking dish with vegetable oil.

  2. Step 2.

In a large pot over medium-high heat, combine 3 cups chicken broth, 2 cups water, and 1 cup half-and-half. Bring to a boil. Stir in 2 teaspoons seasoning salt, ½ teaspoon garlic powder, ½ teaspoon onion powder, and ½ teaspoon ground black pepper.

  3. Step 3.

Slowly add 2 cups quick grits to the boiling liquid, whisking constantly to prevent lumps. Reduce heat to low and cook for 15 minutes, stirring occasionally. Remove from heat and let the grits cool for 15 minutes.

  4. Step 4.

While the grits cool, dice 2 cups ham and shred 2 cups cheddar cheese if not already prepared. Lightly beat 2 large eggs.

  5. Step 5.

Add the diced ham, shredded cheddar cheese, beaten eggs, and ½ cup (1 stick) salted butter to the cooled grits. Stir until well combined. Transfer the mixture to the prepared baking dish and spread evenly.

  6. Step 6.

Bake for 45 minutes, or until the top is golden brown. Remove from the oven and let the casserole rest for 15 minutes before serving.
