  • 118 ml apple juice
  • 118 ml ketchup
  • 4.93 ml kosher salt

  • 59.1 ml dark brown sugar, packed
  • 4.93 ml black pepper, freshly ground

Let's Cook

  1. Step 1.

    In a small saucepan over low heat, combine ½ cup apple cider vinegar, ½ cup apple juice, ½ cup ketchup (such as Heinz), ¼ cup packed dark brown sugar, 1 teaspoon kosher salt, and 1 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper.

    Heat the mixture, stirring occasionally, just until the brown sugar is dissolved, about 5 minutes. Do not let it boil.

  3. Step 3.

    Taste the sauce and adjust the seasoning with additional salt or pepper if needed.

  4. Step 4.

    Store the vinegar sauce in a lidded glass jar in the refrigerator; it will keep for up to 2 weeks.
