  • 118 ml berries of choice
  • 14.8 ml freshly squeezed lemon juice
  • 14.8 ml water
  • Milk of choice or water

Prepare

  • 355 ml confectioners’ sugar, sifted

Let's Cook

  1. Step 1.

In a small pot over medium-low heat, combine ½ cup berries (fresh or frozen), 1 tablespoon lemon juice, and 1 tablespoon water. Bring to a simmer, stirring and smashing the berries as they soften. Continue to stir and simmer until the berries have completely broken down, about 10 minutes.

  2. Step 2.

Remove the pot from the heat. Pour the berry mixture through a fine-mesh sieve into a bowl, pressing on the solids to extract as much liquid as possible. Discard the solids. Let the berry juice cool for about 15 minutes.

  3. Step 3.

In a medium bowl, place 1½ cups sifted confectioners' sugar. Slowly stir the cooled berry juice into the sugar, a little at a time, until you have a smooth, pourable glaze. You may not need all the juice. If the glaze is too thick, add a little milk or water to thin it further.

  4. Step 4.

Dip the top of each doughnut into the glaze, gently shaking to remove any excess. For an allover glaze, flip and dip the other side as well. Place the glazed doughnuts on a wire rack and allow the glaze to set for 5 to 10 minutes.
