In a medium saucepan over medium heat, bring 1 cup water to a low boil. Add 1 cup sugar and whisk until the sugar is completely dissolved. Remove from heat and let the simple syrup cool completely.
-
Step 2.
While the syrup cools, hull and slice ½ pound fresh strawberries. Juice 5 to 6 large lemons to get 1 cup freshly squeezed lemon juice.
-
Step 3.
In a blender, combine the sliced strawberries and lemon juice. Blend until smooth, then pour the mixture into a large pitcher.
-
Step 4.
Add 6 cups cold water and the cooled simple syrup to the pitcher. Stir until everything is well combined.
-
Step 5.
Add lemon slices and additional strawberry slices to the pitcher, reserving some for garnish if desired. Fill tall glasses with ice, pour the lemonade over the ice, and garnish each glass with a lemon slice and strawberry slice.
