Let's Prepare

Collect

Gather these ingredients — no prep needed yet.

  • 1 clementine
  • 1 chai tea bag
  • 3 cloves
  • maple syrup
  • black pepper
  • 3 5/13 tbsp whisky

Let's Cook

  1. Step 1.

Cut a thin slice from the clementine for garnish, then juice the remaining clementine into a small bowl.

  2. Step 2.

Fill the mug or glass you will drink from with water, then pour that water into a small saucepan. Add the chai tea bag, cloves, maple syrup, clementine juice, and a pinch of black pepper. Bring to a boil over high heat, then reduce the heat to low and simmer gently for 5 minutes.

  3. Step 3.

Strain the hot toddy through a fine-mesh sieve into your mug. Stir in the whisky (if using). Garnish with the reserved clementine slice and serve immediately.
