- 4 bread slices
- butter
- 4 eggs

Step 1.
Using a round cookie cutter or a small glass, cut a circle from the center of each of the 4 bread slices. Set the cutout circles aside to stale for later use (e.g., bread pudding).

Place a frying pan over medium heat and add a few pats of butter. Once the butter has melted and is sizzling, arrange the bread slices in the pan.

Carefully crack one egg into the hole of each bread slice. Cook until the egg white on the bottom is set and the bread is golden brown, about 2–3 minutes.

Flip each bread slice with a spatula and cook the other side until the egg is cooked to your liking, keeping the yolk runny, about 1–2 minutes more. Serve immediately.
