  • 710 ml all-purpose flour
  • 14.8 ml baking powder
  • 44.4 ml granulated sugar
  • 4.93 ml salt

Prepare

  • 355 ml beer, dark, imported, room temperature
  • Melt 14.8 ml salted butter

Let's Cook

  1. Step 1.

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. In a mixing bowl combine the flour, baking powder, sugar and salt. Add the beer all at once, mixing a little as possible. Stir until all the flour is absosrbed. The batter will be slightly lumpy. Pour batter into a 9X5X3 inch greased loaf pan. With clean fingers, smear melted butter over the top. Bake about 1 hour or until golden brown on top. The loaf will make a hollow sound when you thump it on top when its done. Better to be a little over cooked than under cooked. Remove from pan to cool. Optional: sprinkle herbs on top before baking.
