- 88.7 ml extra-virgin olive oil
- 2.46 ml Diamond Crystal kosher salt
- 1.23 ml freshly ground black pepper
Prepare
- 200 g crusty bread like ciabatta, baguette, or sourdough, cut into 3/4- to 1-inch pieces
Let's Cook
-
Step 1.
Cut the bread into even 3/4-inch cubes so they bake at the same rate. Alternatively, tear the bread for a more rustic texture.
-
Step 2.
Place the bread cubes in a large mixing bowl. Drizzle the oil evenly over the bread, then sprinkle your seasonings. Toss gently until every piece is coated.
-
Step 3.
Spread the bread cubes out in a single layer on a rimmed baking sheet, avoiding overcrowding so they crisp up properly. Bake at 375°F (190°C) for 10 to 15 minutes.
-
Step 4.
Stir or flip the croutons halfway through the baking time to ensure all sides brown evenly.
-
Step 5.
Once the croutons are golden and crisp, remove them from the oven and let them cool on the baking sheet. They will crisp up even more as they cool.
