Let's Prepare

Collect

Gather these ingredients - no prep needed yet.

  • 1 macaroni
  • 3 tbsp flour
  • 3 tbsp butter
  • 2 cup milk
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 12 Kraft Deli Deluxe American cheese slices

Let's Cook

  1. Step 1.

Preheat the oven to 350°F. Grease a casserole pan with butter or cooking spray.

  2. Step 2.

Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Cook the macaroni according to the package directions until al dente, then drain.

  3. Step 3.

While the macaroni cooks, in a saucepan over low heat, combine the flour, butter, milk, salt, and pepper. Stir frequently with a whisk until the mixture is smooth and begins to thicken, about 3–5 minutes.

  4. Step 4.

Once the sauce is hot, add the cheese slices one at a time, stirring until each slice is fully melted before adding the next. Continue until you've added 12 slices (or more if desired). The sauce should be smooth and creamy.

  5. Step 5.

Drain the cooked macaroni and transfer it to the greased casserole pan. Pour the hot cheese sauce over the macaroni and stir until the pasta is evenly coated.

  6. Step 6.

Shred any remaining cheese slices on top of the casserole. Cover the pan with aluminum foil and bake for 20 minutes.

  7. Step 7.

Remove the foil and bake for an additional 5 to 10 minutes, watching closely so the top doesn't brown too much. Serve hot.
