Let's Prepare

Collect

Gather these ingredients - no prep needed yet.

  • waffle batter
  • all-beef hot dog
  • barbecue stick or bamboo skewer
  • ketchup
  • yellow mustard
  • classic relish

Let's Cook

  1. Step 1.

Preheat a waffle iron according to the manufacturer's instructions.

  2. Step 2.

Prepare waffle batter according to your preferred recipe.

  3. Step 3.

Lightly butter the waffle iron or spray it with nonstick cooking spray. Pour enough batter into the iron to fill the mold, as it will expand to cover the hot dog as it cooks.

  4. Step 4.

Place an all-beef hot dog on top of the batter. If desired, insert a barbecue stick or bamboo skewer lengthwise through the hot dog.

  5. Step 5.

Close the waffle iron and cook until the edges of the waffle are golden brown and crisp, about 4 to 6 minutes.

  6. Step 6.

Remove the waffle dog from the iron. Top with a line each of ketchup, yellow mustard, and classic relish. Serve immediately.
