Let's Prepare

Collect

Gather these ingredients - no prep needed yet.

  • 1/4 oz dry active yeast
  • 1 tsp granulated sugar
  • 1 cup warm water
  • 2 1/2 cup flour
  • 2 tbsp oil
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 3 basil leaves
  • 4 oz sliced white cheese

Prepare

  • 3 large tomatoes, thinly sliced
  • Mince 2 clove garlic

Let's Cook

  1. Step 1.

Preheat the oven to 450°F. In a bowl, dissolve the dry active yeast and granulated sugar in the warm water. Let stand for about 10 minutes until frothy.

  2. Step 2.

Stir the flour, oil, and salt (if using) into the yeast mixture until a smooth dough forms. Let the dough rest for 5 minutes.

  3. Step 3.

Turn the dough onto a lightly floured surface. Pat or roll it into a flat shape that matches your pan size (10 to 12 inches).

  4. Step 4.

Lightly grease the pan and dust it with cornmeal, if available. Place the dough on the prepared pan.

  5. Step 5.

Lightly coat the dough with olive oil or rendered animal fat. Arrange the thinly sliced tomatoes over the dough, then sprinkle with minced garlic and tear the basil leaves over the top. Place slices of white cheese evenly on top.

  6. Step 6.

Bake the pizza for 15 to 20 minutes, until the crust is golden brown and the cheese is melted and bubbly.
