  • 1 1/2 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • 2 1/2 tsp seasoning salt
  • 1 tsp ground black pepper
  • 1 frozen chopped broccoli
  • 1 1/2 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 2 1/2 cup half-and-half

Prepare

  • 3 1/2 tbsp salted butter, divided
  • butter, for greasing
  • Beat 2 large eggs
  • Mince 3 clove garlic
  • Dice 1 small onion
  • Crush 1 Ritz crackers

Let's Cook

  1. Step 1.

Preheat the oven to 350°F. Lightly butter a 4-quart casserole dish.

  2. Step 2.

In a large mixing bowl, combine the eggs, mayonnaise, shredded sharp cheddar cheese, seasoning salt, and black pepper. Mix well. Stir in the frozen chopped broccoli and minced garlic, then set aside.

  3. Step 3.

In a medium saucepan, melt 1½ tablespoons of the butter over medium heat. Add the diced onion and cook, stirring, until translucent, 3 to 4 minutes.

  4. Step 4.

Add the all-purpose flour to the saucepan and cook, stirring constantly, until the raw flour smell is gone, about 3 minutes.

  5. Step 5.

Pour in the half-and-half and cook, whisking occasionally to prevent lumps, until the sauce thickens, about 5 minutes.

  6. Step 6.

Fold the cream sauce into the broccoli mixture until well combined. Pour everything into the prepared casserole dish.

  7. Step 7.

Top the casserole with crushed Ritz crackers. Dice the remaining 2 tablespoons butter into small pieces and scatter over the top.

  8. Step 8.

Bake, uncovered, for 30 minutes, or until golden brown. Let cool slightly before serving.
