Sugar the rim of a cocktail glass by rubbing a lemon wedge around the rim and dipping it into a plate of sugar.

In a cocktail shaker filled with ice, combine ½ ounce cognac, 1 ounce Cointreau, and ¾ ounce fresh lemon juice.

Shake the mixture vigorously for about 15 seconds until well-chilled.
