Let's Cook
-
Step 1.
Prepare spicy bean chili according to your recipe, or warm store-bought chili in a saucepan over medium heat until hot, stirring occasionally.
-
Step 2.
While the chili heats, panfry a beef and pork hot dog on a flattop or in a skillet over medium heat, turning occasionally, until browned and heated through, about 3–4 minutes.
-
Step 3.
Place the cooked hot dog in a classic bun. Squeeze a line of yellow mustard and a line of ketchup along the top of the dog.
-
Step 4.
Spoon a generous pile of hot chili over the hot dog, then sprinkle with a handful of finely chopped white onions, a scattering of pickle slices, and a handful of oyster crackers.
-
Step 5.
If making a slaw-topped version, add a pile of coleslaw on top of the chili and other toppings. Serve immediately in a long bowl, banana-split-style.
