- 8 small or 4 large bags black tea
- 1/2 cup Lipton iced tea mix
- 1/3 cup sugar
- baking soda
- 4 cup cold water
- 4 cup ice
Let's Cook
-
Step 1.
In a saucepot, bring 4 cups of water to a boil over high heat. Once boiling, add 8 small or 4 large bags of black tea (such as Lipton's or Luzianne), then turn off the heat. Let the tea steep for 8 minutes, allowing it to become strong and dark.
-
Step 2.
After steeping, remove the tea bags and pour the hot tea into a large pitcher (at least 3-quart capacity). Add 1/2 cup Lipton iced tea mix and 1/3 cup sugar, stirring until both are fully dissolved. Then stir in a pinch of baking soda, which helps reduce bitterness and cloudiness.
-
Step 3.
Add 4 cups of cold water and 4 cups of ice to the pitcher, stirring to combine and chill the tea. Refrigerate for 2 to 3 days; serve over ice with optional sugar-coated rims and fresh mint for garnish.
