A sweet nut filling made with ground toasted nuts, sugar, cinnamon, and vanilla, bound with egg and thinned with milk or cream. Enough to fill one 9-inch ring.

Ingredients

  • ½ cup ground toasted hazelnuts, almonds, or other nuts
  • ½ cup sugar
  • (2 tablespoons finely chopped candied citron, candied orange peel, or candied ginger)
  • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 large egg, well beaten
  • Milk, half-and-half, or cream

  • 1 large egg, well beaten
  • Milk, half-and-half, or cream

Let's Cook

  1. Step 1.

    Combine in a medium bowl: ½ cup ground toasted hazelnuts, almonds, or other nuts; ½ cup sugar; (2 tablespoons finely chopped candied citron, candied orange peel, or candied ginger); 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon; ½ teaspoon vanilla

  2. Step 2.

    Add: 1 large egg, well beaten

  3. Step 3.

    Thin with: Milk, half-and-half, or cream

  4. Step 4.

    until of the right consistency to spread over the dough.
