Let's Prepare

Collect

Gather these ingredients — no prep needed yet.

  • 2 cup bourbon
  • 3/4 cup sweet vermouth
  • 1 tbsp aged scotch whiskey
  • 1 1/2 tsp orange bitters
  • 6 Homemade Cocktail Cherries

Let's Cook

  1. Step 1.

In a large mason jar, combine 2 cups bourbon, ¾ cup sweet vermouth, 1 tablespoon scotch whiskey, and 1½ teaspoons orange bitters. Stir well to blend.

  2. Step 2.

Refrigerate the mixture for at least a few days and up to a month to allow flavors to meld. (This can be done a day or two ahead.)

  3. Step 3.

When ready to serve, fill a cocktail shaker or pint-size mason jar with ice. Shake about a third of the mixture (enough for two drinks) over the ice until well-chilled.

  4. Step 4.

Pour about ½ cup of the strained cocktail into each tumbler over fresh ice, or into martini glasses if preferred. Garnish each drink with a Homemade Cocktail Cherry.
