Latvian Solstice Squares
These dessert squares are a traditional Latvian solstice treat, featuring layers of chocolate chips, peanut butter chips, butterscotch chips, and almond brickle chips over a German chocolate cake crust, topped with sweetened condensed milk. Step 1.
Preheat the oven to 350°F. Grease a 9-by-13-inch rectangular pan with butter or nonstick spray.

In a medium bowl, use a fork to stir the melted butter into the cake mix until a very stiff dough forms.

Using a rubber spatula, press the dough evenly into the bottom of the greased pan.

Layer the semisweet chocolate chips, peanut butter chips, butterscotch chips, almond brickle chips, and chopped nuts evenly over the dough.

Bake for 30 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and bubbly. The edges should be set and the center slightly jiggly.
