Grilled Or Broiled Fruit
A simple grilled or broiled fruit dish featuring a variety of summer fruits, lightly charred and served immediately.
Ingredients
- 6 large apricots, halved and pitted
- 4 large or 6 small bananas, peeled
- 6 large figs, stemmed and halved lengthwise
- 4 peaches or nectarines, halved and pitted
- 6 large juicy plums, halved and pitted
- 6 pineapple rings (about ½ inch thick)
- Sugar
- Salt

Step 1.
Prepare a medium-hot grill fire or preheat a gas grill to medium-high. Lightly brush one of the following with vegetable oil: 6 large apricots, halved and pitted; 4 large or 6 small bananas, peeled; 6 large figs, stemmed and halved lengthwise; 4 peaches or nectarines, halved and pitted; 6 large juicy plums, halved and pitted; 6 pineapple rings (about ½ inch thick)

Step 2.
Grill the fruits directly over the flames, arranging the halved fruits cut side down. Cook until lightly charred, 2 to 3 minutes. Turn and cook 2 to 3 minutes longer. Serve at once.

Preheat the broiler. Prepare the fruit as directed in version I and place, hollow side up, in a shallow, broilerproof baking pan. Sprinkle lightly with: Sugar; Salt

Broil 6 inches from the heat until lightly browned and juicy.
