- 2 lbs round steak
- 6 onions
- 2 butter
- 1 tbsp flour
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tbsp paprika
- 2 cup sour cream
- 2 cup red wine
Let's Cook
-
Step 1.
Cut the round steak into thin strips, about 1/2 inch wide and 2 inches long.
-
Step 2.
Peel and slice the 6 onions into thin rings or half-rings.
-
Step 3.
In a large skillet or Dutch oven, melt 2 pats of butter over medium-high heat. Add the sliced onions and steak strips, and cook, stirring occasionally, until the onions are translucent and the steak is browned on all sides, about 8–10 minutes.
-
Step 4.
Sprinkle 1 tablespoon flour, 1 teaspoon salt, and 1 tablespoon paprika over the meat and onions. Stir well to coat, and let cook for 2–3 minutes, stirring constantly, to cook out the raw flour taste.
-
Step 5.
Pour in 2 cups sour cream and 2 cups red wine, and stir until everything is well combined and the sauce is smooth. Bring to a gentle simmer, then remove from heat.
-
Step 6.
Transfer the mixture to a casserole dish. Cover with a lid or aluminum foil, and bake in a preheated 375°F oven for 1 hour to 1 hour 15 minutes, until the meat is tender and the sauce is thickened. Serve hot.
