Let's Prepare

Collect

Gather these ingredients — no prep needed yet.

  • 1 1/2 lbs cod fillet
  • Kosher salt
  • Tartar sauce
  • lemon wedges
  • snipped chives

Prepare

  • Beat 3 large egg whites
  • 3/8 lbs salt-and-vinegar potato chips, finely crushed
  • Olive oil, for misting or brushing

Let's Cook

  1. Step 1.

Cut the cod fillet into equal-size pieces. If the tail ends are thinner, fold them in half and secure with a toothpick.

  2. Step 2.

Place the beaten egg whites in a shallow bowl. Put the finely crushed salt-and-vinegar potato chips in another shallow bowl. Dip each piece of cod first into the egg whites, then into the crushed chips, pressing gently to help the coating adhere.

  3. Step 3.

Lightly spray or brush the coated fish pieces with olive oil on all sides.

  4. Step 4.

Preheat the air fryer to 350°F. Working in 2 batches to avoid overcrowding, place the fish pieces in the air fryer basket in a single layer. Air fry until golden brown and opaque throughout, 8 to 10 minutes.

  5. Step 5.

Sprinkle the cooked fish with kosher salt. Serve immediately with tartar sauce, lemon wedges, and snipped chives.
