Let's Cook

  1. Step 1.

In a large mixing bowl, cream together the butter, eggs, and vanilla until the mixture is smooth and evenly combined, scraping down the sides of the bowl as needed.

  2. Step 2.

In a separate bowl, sift together the sugars, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and flour until no lumps remain and the dry ingredients are uniformly blended.

  3. Step 3.

Add the dry mixture to the butter and egg mixture, stirring just until the flour disappears and a soft dough forms, being careful not to overmix.

  4. Step 4.

Fold in the chocolate chips and nuts until they are evenly distributed throughout the dough.

  5. Step 5.

Shape the dough into 1-inch balls and place them about 1 inch apart on an ungreased cookie sheet, leaving room for the cookies to spread.

  6. Step 6.

Bake at 375F for 10 to 11 minutes, until the edges are set and the centers look slightly soft; let the cookies cool on the sheet for a few minutes before transferring them to a rack.
