Let's Cook

  1. Step 1.

Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).

  2. Step 2.

In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, ground pork, onions, granulated garlic, and bread crumbs that have been mixed with water. Use your hands or a sturdy spoon to mix until the ingredients are evenly distributed and the mixture holds together.

  3. Step 3.

Add the remaining ingredients to the bowl and mix well until everything is fully incorporated. Avoid overmixing, which can make the loaves dense.

  4. Step 4.

Shape the mixture into loaves and place them in loaf pans or a roasting pan with sides high enough to contain the juices. Pack the mixture gently so the loaves hold their shape but are not compressed too firmly.

  5. Step 5.

Bake for 45 minutes to 1 hour, or until the loaves are cooked through and an instant-read thermometer inserted into the center registers 160°F (71°C). If you like a browned top, you can broil for the last 2–3 minutes, watching closely to prevent burning.

  6. Step 6.

Remove the loaves from the oven and set aside to cool slightly before slicing. This allows the juices to redistribute and makes the loaves easier to cut.
