- 1/4 lbs cheese
Prepare
- 0.5 Orange, Pecan, and Fig Sourdough Batard, cut into ½-inch-thick slices
Let's Cook
-
Step 1.
Preheat your oven broiler. Cut the Orange, Pecan, and Fig Sourdough Batard into ½-inch-thick slices, then cut the slices into equal-size pieces (halve larger ones) to yield 12 to 15 pieces that will each provide 2 to 3 bite-size appetizers.
-
Step 2.
Arrange the bread pieces on a baking sheet and lightly butter each piece with unsalted butter. Place the sheet under the broiler and toast for about 90 seconds, just until the butter melts and the bread is lightly toasted.
-
Step 3.
Remove the toast from the oven and let cool completely on the baking sheet.
-
Step 4.
Top each cooled toast piece with a thin slice or smear of cheese (choose from brie, cream cheese, goat cheese, cheddar, manchego, or mascarpone) and a garnish of your choice (such as blueberry port wine jam, red pepper jelly, baby arugula, thin apple slices, serrano ham, or fresh fig). Arrange on a platter and serve.
