Let's Prepare

Collect

Gather these ingredients — no prep needed yet.

  • 700 ml white rum
  • 20 g loose-leaf chai
  • 15 chai tea bags
  • 20 g cinnamon sticks

Let's Cook

  1. Step 1.

In a mixing bowl, combine 700 ml (3 cups) of white rum, 20 g (¾ oz) of loose-leaf chai (or 15 chai tea bags), and 20 g (¾ oz) of cinnamon sticks. Stir to ensure the tea and cinnamon are submerged.

  2. Step 2.

Cover the bowl and let the mixture steep at room temperature for 6 hours, stirring every hour or so to redistribute the flavors.

  3. Step 3.

After steeping, strain the rum through a fine-mesh sieve or cheesecloth into a clean container, discarding the solids. Transfer the chai rum to an airtight bottle or jar and store in a cool, dark place for up to a month.
