- Crush 2 green cardamom pods

Step 1.
Place your cafetière/French press on a steady, flat surface and remove the plunger.

Add 2 heaped teaspoons of fresh medium-ground coffee and 2 crushed green cardamom pods to the cafetière. Carefully pour in 400ml (14fl oz/1⅔ cups) of water that is just off the boil.

Step 3.
Stir the mixture gently for 30 seconds, then reinsert the plunger so that it stops just above the water and coffee. Let the coffee stand for 4–5 minutes.

Press the plunger down slowly with even, steady pressure. Pour the coffee into cups and serve immediately.
