Let's Prepare

Collect

Gather these ingredients — no prep needed yet.

  • 2 tbsp chia seeds
  • 1 1/2 cup frozen blueberries

Prepare

  • 1 1/2 cup unsweetened almond milk, divided
  • 3 medium bananas, sliced and frozen

Let's Cook

  1. Step 1.

In a small bowl, combine the chia seeds and ½ cup almond milk. Whisk thoroughly until well combined, then cover the bowl and refrigerate for about 10 minutes, until the mixture thickens to a gel-like consistency.

  2. Step 2.

While the chia mixture chills, add the bananas and remaining 1 cup almond milk to a blender. Blend on high until smooth, stopping to scrape down the sides of the blender as needed.

  3. Step 3.

Add the blueberries to the blender and blend again until the mixture is smooth and evenly colored.

  4. Step 4.

Remove the chia seed mixture from the refrigerator—it should have thickened. Whisk it briefly to break up any clumps, then scrape it into the blender using a rubber spatula or spoon.

  5. Step 5.

Blend everything together until completely smooth and well combined. Pour the smoothie into two glasses and serve immediately.
