Let's Prepare

Collect

Gather these ingredients - no prep needed yet.

  • mashed potatoes
  • 1 lb hamburger
  • 0.5 onion
  • 1 can cream of mushroom soup
  • 1 can tomatoes
  • 1 can mushrooms
  • 1 can cream corn
  • 1 can green beans

Let's Cook

  1. Step 1.

Preheat your oven to 350°F. Prepare a medium batch of mashed potatoes according to your preferred recipe or package instructions; set aside.

  2. Step 2.

In a large skillet over medium heat, cook 1 lb of ground hamburger and 1/2 diced onion, breaking up the meat, until the hamburger is browned and the onion is translucent, about 5–7 minutes. Drain any excess fat.

  3. Step 3.

To the skillet with the cooked hamburger and onion, add 1 can of cream of mushroom soup, 1 can of diced tomatoes (undrained), 1 can of mushrooms (drained), 1 can of cream corn, and 1 can of green beans (drained). Stir everything together until well combined.

  4. Step 4.

Transfer the meat and vegetable mixture to a 9x13-inch baking dish or similar casserole dish. Spread the prepared mashed potatoes evenly over the top, then sprinkle with shredded cheese (such as cheddar) to your liking.

  5. Step 5.

Bake the casserole uncovered at 350°F for about 30 minutes, until the filling is bubbly and the cheese is melted and lightly golden. Let it rest for 5 minutes before serving.
