Let's Cook
-
Step 1.
Preheat the oven to 350°F. Grease a Bundt pan thoroughly with butter or nonstick spray, making sure to coat all crevices.
-
Step 2.
In a large bowl, cream together 1 cup butter and 3 cups sugar until light and fluffy, about 3-5 minutes with an electric mixer.
-
Step 3.
In a small bowl, beat 3 eggs well. Add the beaten eggs to the butter-sugar mixture and mix until fully incorporated.
-
Step 4.
Add 1½ cups molasses, 2 tsp baking powder, 1 tsp cloves, 1 tsp nutmeg, and 2 tsp cinnamon to the bowl. Mix until combined.
-
Step 5.
Add ½ cup milk and mix until smooth.
-
Step 6.
Gradually add 3 cups flour, mixing on low speed just until no dry streaks remain. Do not overmix.
-
Step 7.
Peel and core 2 to 3 apples, then cut them into small cubes (about ½-inch). Fold the apple cubes into the batter gently with a spatula.
-
Step 8.
Pour the batter into the prepared Bundt pan and spread evenly. Bake at 350°F for 35-40 minutes, until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean or with a few moist crumbs.
-
Step 9.
Let the cake cool in the pan on a wire rack for 10-15 minutes, then invert onto the rack to cool completely before serving.
